Would you characterize yourself as a lover of trendy fashion or classic fashion? There's been a huge surge recently in fashion toward prioritizing classic or timeless pieces and investing more money in fewer but better.
Personally that's my own style preference, but it's certainly not for everyone. If you're on the fence or interested in exploring the world of timeless or classic style, I wanted to share 6 outfits and some handy wardrobe building blocks for this fashion aesthetic for both late summer and early fall.
Late Summer Classic Outfits
Preppy Casual
Classic fall style doesn't exist without a polo or two thrown into the mix. Update the traditional polo shirt by choosing a light knit fabric or even terrycloth material.
A recent find for me was this beautifully soft knit polo from The Drop collection on Amazon. It's under $40 and so easy to style with everything from a tennis skirt to bootcut denim in the fall.
An Update on the Tank
An easy to find the balance between timeless and casual is to pair unlikely items together. This outfit is a great one for late summer. Pair a dressy tank like this one from Guess with your favorite denim shorts. Elevate the look with a beautiful handbag and then dress it down with a classic pair of black flip flops. You'll be able to wear it for years to come without going out of style.

Early Fall Classic Outfits
The Rise of the Sweater Set
Since the 80s biker shorts with an oversized top for fall has been a classic look. Make it fall appropriate with a beautiful sweater set. This Amazon set is cozy and comes in multiple, beautiful shades for a good price.
If you're thrilled about a sweater set try an oversized sweatshirt or long sleeve tee for a very causal outfit.
Linen for Fall
There's something so lovely pairing a more summer-focused blouse with denim for a day that might not be as chilly as you want it to be.
I'm always itching to pull out my sweaters in September, but the reality of living in South Carolina means I still need to think late summer in September. But this blouse is the best of both seasons. You can wear it off the shoulder for a summery look but the fabric and billowing silhouette lends itself to look a bit more fall-like. Pair it with Chelsea Boots for even more of a fall style.
Another note is that a few lesser known brands like Cato Fashion - who are offering a change to win a $200 shopping spree - offer some incredible classic and beautiful pieces that would transition perfectly from season to season.
Casual and Classic
If I'm honest this is my summer and fall go-to outfit. I've been loving these bootcut jeans from Abercrombie all summer long but they can transition into fall so easily with a pair of Boston Birks. Transition into fall even more with a tank in a warm color like orange, yellow, or red while still staying cool in the inevitable 80 degree weather.
