I’m sure most of you reading this are wondering what beauty really has to do with fitness and, to be honest, I second guessed myself before writing this post. After all, fitness is about getting sweaty and working those muscles and drinking water and being active. And it is exactly those things, but for me, a huge downside to working out is the amount of time it takes after a workout to get myself feeling clean and refreshed. And in a world where everyone is looking for great excuses to not workout, this is a big one! When there are so many things crowding for your time, making it a huge downer to workout, make your after-fitness beauty routine a motivating factor in your quest for fitness.

Over the years, I’ve been able to find a few tips and tricks from tried and true beauty products that work to save you time and give your skin that fresh, glowy look.

  1. Wash your face in the shower, skip the serum, choose a fast absorbing moisturizer. Save your 15-minute, 7 step beauty regime for the days when brunch in three hours is the next thing on the agenda. Instead, do the basics – cleanse and moisturize – with killer products that will put in the work for you like this deep pore cleanser and my all-time favorite basic moisturizer.
  2. Drink plenty of water after your workout. You all know the key to healthy skin is hydration. Don’t skimp on this even well after your workout to maintain that moisture in your skin.
  3. Use a lightweight foundation and grab the mascara. A little dusting of mineral foundation and a quick application of mascara will brighten up your entire face and give you that healthy glow. Skip the blush, contour, and highlight, because chances are you’ll be rosy cheeked from all that cardio.
  4. Braid your hair wet and leave it to dry naturally. Because #beachhair is a real thing, don’t bother with the blow drying and the straightening and the curling. Hop out of the shower gently towel dry your hair, spritz some this on your hair, and then pop it up into a little French braid. An hour later you’ll be rocking the beachy waves that are perfect for that sweet sweet summertime.
