By now, y’all know that summer is quite possibly my least favorite time of the year.
Listen, I don’t know where you live, but I’m in South Carolina which means hot hot hot summers that never end. Born and raised in New England, I think I was just born warm-blooded and would rather take on a snowy day than a 100 degree one.
Personal preference and everything.
But I do love summertime holidays. Fourth of July in particular.
Growing up our family traditions were pretty classically American – a day at grandma’s house playing in the pool with all my cousins; a trip to Ohio to the most charming small town in America where they threw the best parade, a concert in the square, and fireworks at the fairgrounds.
When we were older, it was a nighttime patriotic concert by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra with plenty of food, laughs, and fireworks.
Nowadays, we head back to the Midwest for a lovely few days on a lake filled with boats and jet skis and quality family time. It’s really the perfect holiday – so not worrying about what to wear is always key!
Some of my favorite 4th of July looks (no surprise) tend to be more causal, so I rounded up a few favorite pieces and accessories if you’re looking for any inspiration over the next couple of days.
