Around the holidays, the perfect moments are almost always made sweeter with a cup of coffee. (And yes, I do realize how cheese that sounded.) But in my experience, it’s the perfect way to bring people together. Since the holiday season is always one of sharing, I wanted to share a perfect little accessory to your kitchen counter that works wonders for your coffee making skills.
The Mr. Coffee® At Home Pour Over is a new small appliance from the Mr. Coffee® line of at-home coffee makers. I’ve been using it consistently for about a month now and it’s truly gold.
I wanted to share a recipe I’ve been making recently that adds a little sweet and a little kick to my morning coffee – a homemade spiced coffee creamer that’s so much healthier than the store bought versions.

The recipe is simple and works exceptionally with the smooth, robust flavor of the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over.
The Ingredients –
- Pour over black coffee
- 1/2 cup half and half or whole milk
- 2 tbsp – Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp – Nutmeg
- 1 tsp – Vanilla
- 2-3 tbsp – Sugar
- 1/2 tsp – Clove
The Directions –
First step is to make the coffee. I suggest a pour over style of making coffee because it produces an even, flavor-filled cup of coffee. It’s created by using optimum water temperature and a consistent water to coffee grounds ratio. The hot water passes slowly through the coffee grounds to create a deep and aromatic flavor. I used the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over and no matter if you’re a coffee novice or expert it’s the perfect small appliance for the job.
Both kettle and pot rests on a scale that calculates the perfect coffee to water ratio, which if you’re familiar with the pour over method that’s the trickiest part. A step-by-step on-screen process that’s easy to read and understand guides you through the creation of the coffee and allows you to consistently create a perfect cup of coffee all within the comfort of your own home.
Directions Continued –
Once your coffee is made you can start on creating the perfect spiced (and healthy) creamer. Start by heating your milk slightly on the stovetop and integrating the vanilla into the warming pan of milk. Slowly mix in the sugar until it’s fully dissolved then add in your clove and nutmeg.
Save the cinnamon for last as it’s always the least willing to be mixed. Take the pan off the heat and either froth up for a latte-style drink or just pour into a cup of your pour over.
Recipe aside, if you’re looking for a thoughtful gift for any coffee lover, the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over is a perfect purchase. A few of the features of the system include a gooseneck kettle (necessary for creating a steady stream of water over the grounds), dripper, carafe, integrated scale and timer, and step-by-step on screen instructions built into one seamless system.
It has the capability to make either 2,4, or 6 cups at a time which is perfect for either a single serving or sharing with friends that come around. In the past, without the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over we’ve had to manually make multiple pour overs when we have more than 3 people around, a process that would take at least 30 minutes. But recently with friends around for dinners and holiday events, we’ve been able to make two 6 cup pots of coffee in half the time and little to no thought.
Purchase the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over at Wal-Mart for yourself or a coffee lover on your list. Just look for the coffee aisle with the purple Mr. Coffee® boxes.
