January Book Club

in, Personal

One of my biggest goals this year is to get back into the reading habit. I’ve been an avid reader since I was little and to this day I love cracking open a new book for the purpose of learning or entertainment. Each month I’m planning on sharing my reading list – books that I have been reading and ones that have caught my eye.

First on the list, Chasing Slow. I know I’ve mentioned the book before but I finally picked up a copy and gave it a read. It was everything I thought it was going to be; witty, entertaining, thought-provoking. It inspired some soul searching of my own and I have a good long blog post response coming soon!

New York: Through a Fashion Eye. I was given this book for Christmas and keep it on my desk for the occasional inspirational read. The book is by Megan Hess an amazing fashion illustrator who’s drawn for some of the biggest names in the fashion world. It’s her take on New York City and since we’re headed there in a couple weeks it was the perfect gift!

Now to the fiction, two picks this month. First,¬†Fifth Avenue Artist’s Society. It’s an easy-to-read historical novel that takes you through life in NYC in the 1890s. It had a very Little Women feeling to it, although storylines are nothing alike.

The second fictional pick is one I just finished reading: The Girl You Left Behind. In full disclosure, I picked it only because of the author – Jojo Moyes – and because I was blindly browsing the library’s shelves but it turned out to be a page-turner¬†and was nothing like I thought it was going to be!

So there’s my list. I’d love to hear about what’s on your book club list this month. Let me know in the comments if you have a great book pick that you think I should check out!
