From Maine to Florida, I’ve visited my fair share of beaches on the East Coast. It’s hard to imagine a vacation is complete without stopping off at some large body of water. So when we visited Charleston a few weeks ago and found out our Airbnb was in Mt Pleasant and just a 7-minute drive from Sullivan’s Island we jumped at the chance to visit on Sunday morning.

I’ve visited Folly Beach before, but Sullivan’s Island was a new one for me and we found it so relaxing and equally charming. After capturing some photos on sand dunes for the brand Taste Drink Go and their line of Turkish towels, we set off down the beach wandering and watching the people – mostly locals – and their dogs. I’m a dog lover at heart and it made me so happy to see all the pups off of their leashes enjoying the water and sand and sun as much as their owners.
If you’re ever in the Charleston area and are looking for a quiet place to kick back and enjoy some nature therapy I would suggest Sullivan’s Island over Folly Beach. It’s lined with beautiful homes available for rent and just one street up there’s a little town with what looked to be restaurants and shops that I can’t wait to check out the next time we go back!
