Must Have: Spring Trench Coat

I was combing through my spring wardrobe the other day finding pieces I wanted to style for our spring lookbook and I realized I was pairing pretty much every outfit with the chicest layer in my wardrobe: my tan trench coat.

I’ve had my tan trench for probably 5 or 6 years now – maybe longer – and it’s quite possibly the most worn item I own. It pairs effortlessly with dresses, pants, skirts, shorts (on occasion) and is the perfect weight for warm winter days, chilly spring days, and cool fall evenings.

I’ve worn it a few times on the blog like this day in Charleston¬†and our first day in Seattle¬†and I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve traveled without it.

So, like I said I bought it several years ago at Banana Republic. I was on a shopping trip with my mom and had been searching for a classic trench coat for a few months at that point. When I saw this coat in their petite section I remember knowing immediately that was the trench for me. I was VERY into the contrasting trim, the light tan color, and the belt and honestly it still adds such a unique touch to the coat.

I get people asking me where it’s from everywhere I go. And that’s the power of a classic item. If you take care of it (I take my coat to the dry cleaners once a season) you’ll be able to wear it for years.

If you’re looking to add even just one piece to your spring wardrobe, I would suggest looking to invest in a quality trench. Depending on your style, you can find classic styles at all different price points.
