Welcome to the second edition of my actual workout routine. Last week I rambled on a bit about my Aaptiv workout routine but also mentioned that in the past few weeks I’ve decided to switch up my normal gym session with a trendier workout โ€“ BBG.

If you haven’t seen your favorite blogger or influencer post about Kayla Itsines’ BBG workout, then you might just not have been paying close enough attention to Instagram (which, good for you!). It’s probably the most famous of the trendy workouts and used by brides getting in shape for their weddings, people working off hibernation layers before swimsuit season, and really anyone who wants to see good results from their gym sessions.

Like I mentioned previously, I was getting a little bored in my primarily cardio routine so I hopped on the Sweat app and started with the BBG Beginner session. I was surprised with how intuitive the workouts were. They’re not easy, but very straightforward and don’t require much equipment.

I’m currently on Week 5 of the workout routine and I’m definitely not doing a workout every day as the program calls for, but it definitely has changed up my routine and even with just 2 workouts per week I’ve still found myself getting stronger.

A few things I’ve liked and disliked about the program:

  • It definitely pushes you to work hard and get results, but one of the first workouts I pushed myself WAYYYY to hard and found it difficult to move the next few days
  • It tells you what to do and gives a little demo of how to do the move
  • I was initially confused about the system of the Sweat app. Once I got the hang of how many sets per 7 minutes it was fine, but there’s not much instruction on how to begin
  • The workouts are pretty easy to customize if you find yourself not being able to do a move.

If you don’t have access to the app you can download the workout PDF on the website, but I like the app because I take my phone to the gym anyway. As I said, this is definitely an everyday workout routine so if you’re up for that, then you’ll see results much faster but I’ve been impressed with just going through the workouts 2-3 times per week.
