Out of all the posts I planned and executed for December I think this is the one I looked forward to the most. There’s something so satisfying about being able to track personal achievements, success, surprises, changes, and growth on a platform like this blog.
If you all don’t know by now, this blog is so precious to me. This is now a sacred space; a happy place. I feel a supremely personal connection to this online platform and I hope that passion is evident in my posts and creative content. It’s my goal to continue to let that shine through as I push this blog into the new year.
But this post isn’t about next year – that’s coming soon enough. This post is a celebration of the last year. I labeled 2016 a year of growth. And it’s pretty evident that 2017 was a year of stretching – and some fumbling and some tripping but also some soaring.
Personally, I overcame one of the hardest challenges set before me and due to some resulting decisions launched into running my own business. I got married and found out I should never be a professional party planner.
Technically, I’ve grown in my knowledge of editing, cameras, social media, and how the precise manipulation of all those things contribute to the whole of the blog post concept that has formed and grown in my mind.
All that to say, I would not have traded 2017 – with all it’s ups and downs and fails and successes – for any other year. To say I’m excited about 2018 would be an understatement. Those uphill battle days and moments of chaos and confusion are all worth it. If for nothing else than just to prove to myself that I can create something out of nothing and be proud of the work I accomplish.
