3 Spring Bags

This spring I’ve covered everything from favorite dresses to tropical vacation packing essentials, but I have yet to dedicate a post entirely to accessories – especially bags for Spring & Summer. When it comes to bags or shoes, I’m more of a shoe girl. I typically reach for my trusty Madewell tote in cognac to carry me through errands, meetings, and travels and leave the rest of my exotic styles at home.

But since the return of rattan and raffia in warm weather accessories, I’ve found myself reaching for smaller, more whimsical bag styles for everyday looks in order to add some color, life, and fun into my basic outfits.

A fun little shoulder bag from Vera Bradley adds that coveted ‘pop of color’ into any outfit. Style it with spring’s most versatile monochromatic look – white on white. Fruit-themed accessories seem to have a firm hold on designer’s imaginations this year and a little bit of lemon is just the citrus to get the job done.

Rattan, raffia, wicker, bamboo, and straw typically get lumped into the same category when it comes to the ‘basket bags’ of the summer. Last year Cult Gaia captured everyone’s attention with their chic and structured ark bag made of bamboo. This year, the same natural materials in every imaginable shape, size, and color have catapulted into fame. Pair the inclusive neutral tone with colorful outfits on spunky days or mix and match with blacks, whites, and tans.
