There’s something special about Sunday evenings. A hush seems to come over the world as people slow down in order to slow time down before the dreaded Monday morning rolls around. I’ve been hearing the term “Sunday Scaries” more and more around internet land as that time when the weekend ends and the dread of the coming week hits you in full force.
Ever since I started working from home, that feeling has been almost entirely eliminated, but I do sympathize with you all in the Sunday Scaries bunch. Today I want to share some of my calming Sunday evenings habits to prepare yourself for a great coming week.

Set aside your screens as early as possible (phones, computers, tablets)
I think a lot of people dread the start of the week because it finds them unprepared. Think about what you can do to make the week flow smoothly. Is it meal prep or planning? Laundry? Choosing outfits for the days ahead? Making a to-do list for the next day? Take an hour early in your evening to complete that task without the distraction of your tech. I guarantee you’ll be so thankful you did when Monday rolls around!
Conduct a little pamper session
Run a bath with lovely, scented products, do an at-home manicure, clean your jewelry, take a good 20 minutes to hydrate your skin, use floss and mouthwash, slip into some clean pajamas. Even if you don’t enjoy a bath pick something that takes more than 15 minutes and get in the habit of doing it for the process. Lots of decisions make our mind go into overdrive and disrupts our calm state of mind. Finding habits that will knock your stress levels down is key.
Clean your skin like a pro
I recently picked up a couple new-to-me products from my neighborhood Rite-Aid because I was searching around for a couple new products to add to my once-per-week skincare routine. I hadn’t been in a Rite Aid in ages and was pleasantly surprised with the selection of products from trusted and wonderful brands. CeraVe has been on my “to-try” list. They have a great range of products that are free of fragrance and oil, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and non-irritating that I was eager to try.
I picked up the CeraVe® Hydrating Facial Cleanser and the complementary Moisturizing Cream. Every day your skin makes and loses ceramides. Daily activities like cleansing can disrupt the balance of ceramides. Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe® Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a unique formula that cleanses, hydrates and helps restore the protective skin barrier with three essential ceramides (1, 3, 6-II). The formula also contains hyaluronic acid to help retain skin’s natural moisture.
CeraVe® products are designed to deliver enhanced skincare benefits with more cosmetic elegance.
Pick up a physical book or magazine
I’ve been an avid reader all my life. I’ll sit and read for hours on end if you let me. From fiction to magazines, I’ll read just about anything from cover to cover. Recently, I’ve been using my Sunday evenings to dive into a great book, travel magazine or (lately) cookbooks! It’s relaxing for my eyes and my body as I slowly unwind before getting a good 7-8 hours of sleep!
Get a solid night of sleep
You’re not doing yourself any favors by going to bed late on Sunday nights. Believe me, if you are able to,get your ideal amount of sleep. For me, that’s about 8 hours. You’ll wake up refreshed and ready for Monday!
Start your Sunday evening routine at Rite Aid. Like I said, I was blown away by the products they carried and love how convenient it is to pop around the corner to pick something up I may be missing.
