An Outfit for Here, There, and Everywhere

I live in casual outfits so I had been looking forward to shooting and sharing an outfit I haven’t stopped wearing all winter. I think hoodies are without a doubt the unsung heroes of winter wear with their supremely cozy style and easy to wear shape. And because you all have been asking for more casual outfits, I’m happy to announce this one is easy to recreate and even easier to wear for just about any occasion.

I pulled together this look to be a simple solution to an age old problem – what to wear when it’s 30 degrees in the morning and 50s by the afternoon.

South Carolina has gotten a late start to the winter weather so this is the first time pulling out my wool coat, but pairing it with a hoodie and sneakers takes it from “An evening at the theatre” coat to a “Pack for a weekend trip to NYC” coat. Actually, I bought it before heading to New York 2 years ago and although I don’t have a chance to wear it often it’s still a staple of my winter wardrobe.

The key is to pair it with neutrals. Grey, camel, black, white are all neutral colors so don’t be afraid to mix and match them for a bit more visual interest.

And just another note about the coat – I bought it slightly oversized knowing it would be a layering piece. It’s taken me a while to figure out I don’t need to buy clothes always in my exact size. I actually buy all my t-shirts in a Medium now because I like them slightly oversized and this coat is a great one to get at a size too large.

And as for the hoodie – I wear it day and night with jeans, leggings, dresses, and pretty much anything else I can get away with. It’s an oversized fit that’s perfect for warmth and comfort.

So if you’re looking for a bit of travel outfit inspiration, this is a great look to recreate in both winter and spring (just switch out the wool coat for a trench). Add a hat, sneakers, and backpack for an ultra chic look.
