If there's one thing to know about me it is that I love cooking. (Baking, not so much...) My relationship with food has always been positive, but in the past year or so I've taken up the mantle of treating food like medicine and using food to heal, prevent, and nourish. What Makes Caraway Home Pans So Good?
- the entire cookware line is considered a nontoxic, nonstick. The problem with traditional nonstick surfaces is that they are formulated with chemicals that should not be anywhere near human food. For the first little bit those chemicals stay neatly tucked away below the surface, but over time with inevitable spatula scrapes and dings and heat they start to leach into food. I personally think the jury is still out a bit on the long term durability of these "clean nonstick pans" but for the time being they are significantly better for you than other options.
- the organization capabilities of these pots and their lids is unmatched. Because I spend so much time in my kitchen, I like knowing exactly the tools, pots, and pans I have. Our kitchen has great storage but my corner cabinet needed a refresh and the organization system from Caraway Home came through for me. Now it makes my little Virgo heart so happy when I open up that door.
What's Included in the Caraway Home Cookware Set
For the price point, I thought the entire four piece set was versatile and functional. You don't get things you don't need but also have options for cooking. I'll list them out in order of my favorites:
- 4.5 qt saute pan – think of this like the most versatile, family sized skillet. Perfect for those one pot dinners, it's not as large or heavy as a cast iron skillet but remember you can also put this in the oven up to 550 F. It also comes with a lid which is another great feature!
- 10.5" fry pan – this might sound bigger, but it's much smaller. I've found this to be the perfect breakfast skillet for my husband and I. It's not bulky or heavy, makes the perfect fried egg and also comes with a lid to keep things warm.
- 6.5 qt dutch oven – I use a dutch oven so much in the fall and winter but not as much in the summer so I haven't gotten to properly test this as much as I would want before writing a review. But from the times I have used it, I do like it. I'm personally used to cast iron and enamel dutch ovens so the lighter weight ceramic threw me for a moment. I do like the size - perfect for a family of 4 roast or a decent pot of soup - and I think when I start baking bread more in the fall this will be a great bread baking vessel.
- 3 qt sauce pan – this little pan is small but mighty and perfect for heating up lunches, making smaller quantities of rice, risotto, pasta, and soups. It's also great for a poached egg in the morning or melting butter for homemade popcorn. (we don't own a microwave though so I warm everything up on my stovetop!)
Recipes to Make In Your Caraway Home Cookware Set
Although the warmth of summer is still linger I have fall recipes on the brain, so I'll mainly be sharing some favorite fall recipes that you can begin making as soon as the autumnal veggies hit the markets.
- One Skillet Maple Dijon Sausage & Fall Veggies Dinner - this recipe is for a one pan version, but sometimes I'm lazy and like to just do in all in a skillet instead of turning the oven on.
- Butternut Squash Pasta – cook pasta of your choice in your dutch oven and create the sauce and veggies in your saute skillet
- Mushroom Lentil Stew – you can make this entire thing in your dutch oven. SO good!
- Pumpkin Risotto – a truly unmatched main or side dish for every fall meal
- Roasted Tomato Basil Soup – a good weather transition meal. Serve with grilled cheese or fresh bread.
- Apple Cider Braised Pork Shoulder – nothing says fall more.
- Broccoli Cheddar Chicken and Rice Casserole – make this for fewer people in your sauté pan
- White Bean Tomato Bake – the perfect fall lunch
