Four years ago my husband surprised me with my first piece from Sezane for Christmas. A pair of heeled boots that I still keep as one of my most prized fashion possessions. Since then I've had no doubt Sezane is one of my favorite brands on the market.
You're probably familiar with them, even if you don't know it yet. Their perfectly Parisian, expertly crafted garments are scattered around the internet from Pinterest to Vogue. I've shared a number of their pieces over the years and they're a favorite brand of the big bloggers like Carly, Julia, and Jess Kirby.
Over the 2020 holiday season, I was able to purchase two denim pieces from Sezane and since it took me over a year to find denim that actually worked for me, I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with Sezane's denim line and how it's my denim has worn in for me over the past 3 years.

My Denim Measurements
Like I mentioned above, denim had been giving me the grief for about a year. I tried SO MANY brands and styles and struck out every single time. I was at the point where I knew my wardrobe wouldn't be complete without a classic pair of blue and black denim. It was a pretty obvious hole that I needed to fill.
My measurements:
Height: 5'0"/5'1"
Waist: 25"
Hips: 33"
*longer legs and shorter torso / wider hips and smaller waist
So, anytime I would go to try on denim or order denim I started to look for 10" rises (impossible to find). Also, there was issues with too much stretch or not enough. I needed denim I could sit in all day while working. WHEW! Yeah, I told you it's been a process. Enter the Sezane denim line.

Sezane Brut Sexy Jeans Review
A few months ago, I saw another petite woman wearing the Brut Sexy denim and immediately pulled the trigger on the Sezane site. Unlike like the Perfect Slim jeans, the Brut Sexy denim is more of a 90s style denim with a rigid fit and structure.
They're a true straight leg denim and as a petite woman, they hit a bit below the ankle. I find Sezane denim runs long and they don't have petite sizing so that can make it tricky. I think if you wanted denim that you could cuff or tailor these might be the perfect pair.
I bought the Edge Blue color and the color was the perfect lightwash denim - very vintage feeling. Very 90s. They also have this style and fit in Grey, Pink, Indigo, Bleach, White, and Black to accommodate everyone's color preference.
How the Brut Sexy Denim Fit a Petite Woman
Overall, I think these run large. There's very little stretch or give in this pair of denim, so you really have to be spot-on with the fit to begin with - much like a pair of vintage Levis.
I bought a size 25 and ultimately they felt too big for me. The waist was definitely too large and the length was ok but still something I would want to have tailored up about an inch or so.
Thankfully, Sezane does have very inclusive sizing when it comes to waist size and if were to order these again I would size down to a 24. Also, if you're a tall girl they do have Tall sizes for most of the color ways. Just waiting for the day they come out with petite sizes!

Sezane: The Perfect Slim Review
Back in the Fall, Sezane released a cropped version of their classic slim cut jeans. Carly posted about them and their great length and I started to wonder if they were the denim for me.
Fast forward to the a couple weeks ago: I pulled the trigger on The Perfect Slim Eco-Friendly jeans in Black. In typical Sezane fashion they shipped out the following day and arrived from Paris in 4 days.
First Impressions: I was nervous they wouldn't fit. Then they did fit. Then I realized they were the best fitting denim I've ever tried. Then I ordered a second pair.

Sezane Denim Sizing and Fit
- If you're between sizes, choose the size below
- I wear a 24 in most other denim brands and Sezane tends to fit true to size
- The Perfect Slim denim used to come in a cropped version, but right now they're not being sold.
- On my height - 5'1" - they fit just below my ankle but looked great cuffed
- The front rise is about 10"
- I ordered both the Black and Blue and found the sizing slightly different with the black having a bit less stretch in the fabric
Ordering From Sezane
Everything ships from Paris, but for an internationally-based company it arrives so quickly. Shipping is $10 or free if you spend over $200 (which is not hard to do!)
And although I don't often have to return pieces, they have a legendary return process. Free returns from the US and it gets logged and your money returned exceptionally fast.
I ordered on a Sunday afternoon and my denim arrived the following Thursday. Every now and again they'll throw a present into your order and over the years I've gotten a notebook, velvet jewelry case, and two makeup bags with my orders.
