Four years ago my husband surprised me with my first piece from Sezane for Christmas. A pair of heeled boots that I still keep as one of my most prized fashion possessions. Since then I've had no doubt Sezane is one of my favorite brands on the market.
You're probably familiar with them, even if you don't know it yet. Their perfectly Parisian, expertly crafted garments are scattered around the internet from Pinterest to Vogue. I've shared a number of their pieces over the years – like the time I visited their store in NYC to my Christmas piece last year and they're a favorite brand of the big bloggers like Carly, Julia, and Jess Kirby.
Over the 2020 holiday season, I was able to purchase two denim pieces from Sezane and since it took me over a year to find denim that actually worked for me, I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with Sezane's denim line.
In this post I'll be sharing about Sezane's

in the hopes that if you're on the fence about pulling the trigger on a pair of denim you'll be armed with a bit more information to make the best decision for you.
A Note About My Denim Experience
Like I mentioned above, denim has been giving me the fits for the past year. I tried SO MANY brands and styles and struck out every single time. I was at the point where I knew my wardrobe wouldn't be complete without a classic pair of blue and black denim. It was a pretty obvious hole that I needed to fill.
I tried Madewell, Levis, Abercrombie, American Eagle, Old Navy, and Everlane denim. None of their styles worked.
Here's the thing. The style at the moment is high-waisted denim. That's great! I'd rather not see the low riders of the early 2000s come back in style. BUT an 11" rise (standard high rise) denim doesn't fit me. It comes up to the bottom of my ribcage and is a very strange look on me.
*longer legs and shorter torso / wider hips and smaller waist
So, anytime I would go to try on denim or order denim I started to look for 10" rises (impossible to find). Also, there was issues with too much stretch or not enough. I needed denim I could sit in all day while working. WHEW! Yeah, I told you it's been a process. Enter the Sezane denim line.

Sezane: The Perfect Slim 7/8 Review
Back in the Fall, Sezane released a cropped version of their classic slim cut jeans. Carly posted about them and their great length and I started to wonder if they were the denim for me.
Fast forward to the a couple weeks ago: I pulled the trigger on The Perfect Slim 7/8 Eco-Friendly jeans in Black. In typical Sezane fashion they shipped out the following day and arrived from Paris in 4 days.
First Impressions: I was nervous they wouldn't fit. Then they did fit. Then I realized they were the best fitting denim I've ever tried. Then I ordered a second pair.
- Euro Sizing - 23-36
- Shipping is $10 or free over $200
- 2/3s of all products are made in Europe
- 93% organic cotton | 5% recycled polyester | 2% elastane
- 3 colors: black, indigo, light blue
- Definitely not full skinny jeans but more slim cropped
SIZING & FIT
- If you're between sizes, size up.
- I don't think they have a decent amount off information about sizing on their site.
- I have found their denim to run a little small.
- I wear a 25 in Madewell denim and a 27 in Sezane denim
- They are supposed to be a bit more cropped.
- On my height - 5'1" - they fit just below my ankle but looked great cuffed
- The front rise is about 10"
- I ordered both the Black and Light Blue and found the sizing identical
Ordering From Sezane
Everything ships from Paris, but for an internationally-based company it arrives so quickly. Shipping is $10 or free if you spend over $200 (which is not hard to do!)
And although I've never needed to return anything, they have a legendary return process. Free returns from the US and it gets logged and your money returned exceptionally fast.
I ordered on a Sunday afternoon and my denim arrived the following Thursday. Every now and again they'll throw a present into your order and over the years I've gotten a notebook, velvet jewelry case, and two makeup bags with my orders.
