A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
I read this book in high school but it was lovely to pick up a copy for our own little library. If you're not familiar with this classic novel, it's a coming of age story about the life and struggles of an early 1900s family living in Brooklyn.
It's written in such a way that draws you into the story without realizing you're already 120 pages deep.

The Name of the Wind
The first book in a fantasy series called The Kingkiller Chronicle. Lee and I started listening to this story as an audiobook last Christmas on a road trip and at the end of our 9 hour drive we had only made it through 1/3 of the book.
It's one of the highest rated audiobooks, but I much preferred reading the story. It is beautifully written and the plot lines are massively intriguing. The only frustrating thing is only 2 of the 3 books of the series have been written - with currently no word from the author if the 3rd book will ever arrive.
We're currently reading the second book of the series called Wise Man's Fear so I'll report back on that one next month!

The Library Book
A Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick + NY Times Bestseller, we found this book displayed in a bookstore in Charleston recently and since we were on vacation decided to pick it up.
It's reads like a true crime/investigative journalism/tribute piece about the Los Angeles library system and the 1986 LA library fire.
It's so well written and I found myself savoring the last few chapters to make it last a little longer. Truly, a powerful book about the power of books.
