I haven't given a home update on the blog in a while but that doesn't mean we haven't been working hard on our little Riverwood Cape Home. In fact, it seems like it was about a year ago that I gave an overview/review of our house projects.
So, to catch you up, let's do a little overview. In the past year we have:
- replaced our gutters *hired this out
- painting our gutters, soffits, siding and dormers *hired this out
- painted the brick of our house *we did this ourselves
- built herb/grasses boxes around our patio
- added font beds + landscaping and plants around our front and sides
- replaced our stove
- replaced our front door, front door hardware, doorbell
Last year at this time, this was what the exterior of our house looked like:
And then we painted the brick with a beautiful limewash paint that was so easy to apply and made a huge difference!
Fast forward a few months while we hired out professionals to replace our gutters and paint the upper siding of our house... we decided to keep focusing on our exterior landscaping and curb appeal. We chose a plant structure for our front beds – three layers of both green and flowering plants
- purple grasses in the far back
- limelight hydrangeas in the middle
- hostas in the front of the beds
We also decided to replace our front door because it was a big energy loss for the house and also really didn't match the rest of the house anymore.
So, here we are, a fully painted house, new landscaping, new mulched beds, and a brand new beautiful front door. I think the "after pictures" speak for themselves.
